1. Local Processing Guarantee
Millebits is engineered with a strict client-side architecture. All tool processing—including image manipulation, PDF optimization, text manipulation, OCR extraction, QR generation, and mathematical calculations—executes entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly, Web Workers, and local JavaScript. Your files, documents, and data are never uploaded to remote servers.
2. Memory and File Handling
Normally, selected files and tool results stay in browser memory while you use a tool. Closing or refreshing the page, or choosing Reset, releases the tool's file references. Browser memory reclamation is managed by the browser; immediate secure erasure cannot be guaranteed.
When you explicitly choose a workflow action such as "Resize this image" or "Continue to PNG to SVG", Millebits temporarily writes that image to this browser's IndexedDB so the next tool can open it in the same tab. This browser storage may be written to disk; it is not an upload or cloud backup. Each tab keeps at most one pending image, up to 20 MiB. The next tool removes the handoff copy when it reads it. Unused handoffs become unavailable after 15 minutes and are deleted on the next workflow cleanup; if you close the browser first, expired data may remain until that cleanup or until you clear this site's browser data. Reset clears the current tool's selection and results, not a permanent file history.
3. Local Storage and Preferences
Millebits uses your browser's localStorage solely to remember your appearance preference (light or dark mode) under the key toolverse:theme:v1. No personal identifiers, tracking tokens, or user data are stored. You can clear this preference at any time using the "Reset preference" control in the site footer.
Image workflows additionally use a random, tab-scoped identifier in sessionStorage to match an image to the next tool. The navigation fragment contains only a random one-use handoff ID, never the image or filename, and is removed when the next tool opens. Session storage is separate from the temporary image copy described above.
4. Advertising and Analytics
Advertising and analytics are disabled in this release. Millebits does not load advertising or analytics scripts. If these services are introduced later, this policy and applicable consent controls will be updated before they are enabled.
5. Hosting Logs
Standard web hosting infrastructure may record basic HTTP request metadata (such as IP address, browser user-agent, and requested file path) in temporary server access logs for DDoS mitigation, caching, and infrastructure diagnostics. These logs are maintained in accordance with standard industry practices.
