Counting rules
Words use English Intl.Segmenter word boundaries, including word-like numeric segments. Hyphens and punctuation can split words; CJK text is segmented rather than treated as one whitespace token. Characters count Unicode code points: emoji may contain several points and combining marks count separately. Whitespace exclusion uses Unicode White_Space. Blank lines separate paragraphs. Reading time assumes 200 words per minute and rounds seconds upward.
