Value preservation and limits

Cells remain strings by default. Optional number parsing preserves leading-zero identifiers and numbers with more than 15 digits as strings. Duplicate headers, uneven header rows and malformed quotes are rejected. Maximum UTF-8 input size: 1 MiB.

How to Convert CSV to JSON

  1. 1Paste or Upload: Paste tabular comma-separated values directly into the left editor or click Upload File to parse a .csv spreadsheet from your computer.
  2. 2Select Options: Toggle delimiter auto-detection, treat the first row as object keys, and automatically cast numeric and boolean literals.
  3. 3Export or Copy: Instantly copy the formatted or minified JSON array to your clipboard, or click Download to save a data.json file.

Key Features

  • ✓
RFC 4180 Compliant: Safely processes values enclosed in quotation marks containing commas, semicolons, tabs, and multiline carriage returns.
  • ✓
Automatic Type Inference: Converts numeric strings into JavaScript numbers and true/false tokens into native booleans when enabled.
  • ✓
Multi-Delimiter Detection: Intelligently infers commas, semicolons, tab characters, and vertical pipe separators automatically from the first line.
  • ✓
100% Client-Side Privacy: Your proprietary files and datasets never leave your browser; conversion runs on an in-memory streaming loop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this support semicolons or tab-separated values (TSV)?

Yes. By default the parser inspects the first row and detects whether comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe is the dominant delimiter. You can also explicitly force a delimiter using the dropdown.

How are commas inside text fields handled?

Following RFC 4180 standards, any field enclosed within quotation marks (e.g. "San Francisco, CA") preserves internal commas as part of the text string.

Is there a file size limit?

Because the parsing takes place inside your browser's JavaScript V8 engine, it can comfortably handle files with tens of thousands of rows within fractions of a second.
