Compress JPEG and WebP locally with adjustable quality or a target file size. Dimensions stay unchanged. PNG inputs must be converted to JPEG or WebP; PNG optimization is not supported.
Compress images without uploading them
Choose up to 10 still JPEG, PNG or WebP images. Select JPEG or WebP output, adjust quality, and optionally set a maximum size in KiB. Each result shows original/output sizes, dimensions, actual format and whether the target was reached. Download successful results individually, even when another file fails.
Does a maximum size always work?
No. A bounded quality search attempts to stay at or below your limit without changing dimensions. It returns only measured results and clearly reports an unmet target. Increase the target or use the resizer yourself. The lowest quality tried is 2%; photos may show artifacts.
What about PNG compression?
This tool accepts PNG input and converts it to lossy JPEG or WebP. It does not claim to optimize PNG losslessly. JPEG flattens transparency onto your chosen background; WebP retains transparency as supported by the encoder. Use the converter if you need PNG output.
Why did I get my original back?
If compression in the same format does not produce a smaller file, your original stays available unchanged. If it is still above the target, that unmet target is shown explicitly. Cross-format results may be larger; actual sizes and increases are shown. No savings are invented.
What changes in the output?
Re-encoded outputs omit metadata, including camera/location details, and use decoded browser orientation. Color profiles and pixel values may change during browser decoding/encoding. Originals are unchanged. Animated files and oversized inputs are rejected before processing.
