    What is optimized?

    QPDF recompresses eligible Flate streams and writes compressed object streams, removing unreachable objects. Text, vectors and image pixel data are not intentionally rasterized or downsampled. Metadata and document features are retained where supported by QPDF; rewriting removes incremental revision history and invalidates signatures, so signed PDFs are rejected. If the result is not smaller, download the original unchanged. Optimization stops after 120 seconds and can be cancelled.
